BACK TO THE 80’s – The Arc Cinema Film Festival
It’s time to dust off the leg warmers, crank up the synth, and step into a decade that changed cinema forever. The Arc Cinema’s Back to the 80’s Film Festival returns this September for its third consectuive year, bringing some of the most beloved classics of the 1980s back to the big screen.
For film fans, the 80’s was a golden era. Hollywood’s creativity and ambition gave us larger-than-life adventures, unforgettable soundtracks, and characters that still capture imaginations today. From sci-fi blockbusters and teen comedies to heartfelt coming-of-age tales, the 80’s shaped the way we watch, talk about, and celebrate movies.
This September, we’re recreating that magic. Among others, The Arc Cinema will be screening Big, the Tom Hanks classic that proved a single wish could change everything, and Blade Runner – The Final Cut, Ridley Scott’s neon-drenched vision of the future that remains one of cinema’s greatest achievements. See below for the full line-up.
Over the past two years, our Back to the 80’s festival has showcased everything from The Goonies and Back to the Future to Dirty Dancing, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Breakfast Club. Each screening has been met with packed auditoriums and fans reliving the joy of seeing these unforgettable stories on the big screen where they belong.
This year promises the same nostalgia-fuelled excitement, with the added luxury of The Arc Cinema’s modern surroundings: state-of-the-art projection, booming sound, and luxury seating as standard. It’s the perfect way to revisit old favourites — or discover them for the first time — in true cinematic style.
Look out for our 40th anniversary screening of Back to the Future from October 31st — the ultimate time-travel classic returning to the big screen, tickets on sale soon.
